finally! gonna use this special bocal for high notes
when I was in Japan, I went to Yamaha for this
Here I am trying out some golden bocals, I actually fell in love with one, but I’m not using it (maybe I’ll sell it if anyone’s interested? 🤔😁)
And this one is a real star ~ the Super Bocal, it makes playing the highest notes super easy!
I will use it for Bartók in Hungarian Pictures, Rihm´s Dithyrambe Concerto, where it goes till e2
and a bit of Beethoven this week with @dkambremen 🥰

A prayer for the trees🌳

I have played many pieces for bassoon and orchestra, but none has ever touched me like this.

John Williams’ The Five Sacred Trees is more than music, it’s a tribute. Inspired by ancient traditions where people prayed to the spirit of each tree before it was felled.

Williams said it best:
“As we become increasingly aware of the damage done by the destruction of our forests, it is illuminating to discover that our ancestors, many thousands of years ago, prayed to the spirits before felling a tree.”

In this music, you can sense that sacred respect.
It’s as if the Earth itself is breathing through the notes.

on this World Earth Day, I take this piece as a quiet tribute
to the trees
to nature
to the ancient roots that came before us💚

Antonín Rejcha was a fascinating and innovative figure in classical music. Born in Prague in 1770, he was a contemporary of Beethoven and Haydn, and actually spent much of his career in France, where he became a prominent figure in Parisian musical circles. Rejcha was not only a composer but also a music theorist, known for his contributions to harmony and counterpoint. He experimented with unusual forms and techniques, often pushing the boundaries of traditional composition. One of his most notable achievements is his 24 wind quintets, which are considered groundbreaking for their inventive use of instrumentation and structural complexity. Despite facing challenges and setbacks throughout his life, Rejcha’s music continues to captivate audiences and inspire musicians around the world.
